FAITHBREAKER
COMMERCIAL / 2025
This was a commercial project, with the intention of producing advertisement and book tour merchandise (print cards) for the release of Faithbreaker by Hannah Kaner. I had the pleasure of illustrating a set of 3 pieces-- showcasing here the breakdown of Kissen and Lessa defending themselves amongst a troublesome crew.

For the base sketch (frame 1 & 2) I wanted to focus on the main characters. In order to do that I used high contrast values and blocked the subject with a foreground silhouette, implying the high stakes fight of the moment.

This is the time I lay down the base colors and play around with lighting (frame 3), setting the mood to be dramatic. Then I proceed to make adjustments based on feedback (frame 4), making sure we are in the right path before i continue the render.
A tough spot we faced during the making of this piece, was making sure the lighting would reflect the shapes and features of the characters without over-exposing.

Once the rendering has shaped up the piece and i have aligned my vision with the client's, I finish cleaning up and adding details, blending in characters + background and finally making use of visual effects to highlight the sense of depth.
